Potty Training update

Well - we have made progress. Sometimes Jaden will actually tell me when he has to go potty and he can now hold it for a long time. So much stress is relieved in me and I am sure Jaden too. It is so nice to only have one child in diapers... amazing how the pile doesn't disappear so quickly. (Since both boys did wear the same size diaper!)

We also had our first snow day of the season today. I tried all day to clean the kitchen, but it never really happened. I was always needed, or I was taking my own nap :) We did go to the H.S and play in the gym for about 45 minutes, Bryson wasn't so sure what to think of it at first, he seemed a little scared. Jaden was so excited, we played soccer, badminton, basketball and dodgeball. (Geez... my job is so stressful! j/k) Jaden and I also went outside and played and had a great time. He really enjoys shoveling... we also played at the park, which is always fun when there is snow everywhere. Bryson has been trying to pop through one of his bottom 1 year molars, so he's been a little fussy. Poor guy. But he is still pretty fun to play with, and chase around the house. I am hoping for no more snow days, however, because then we lose our spring break days to make them up.

What a Week

I may have just experienced the worst Christmas break in history. Well it did start off okay with Christmas and traveling. But starting this last Monday, I decided it was time to potty train Jaden. I started by putting on some superhero underware and told him no more diapers. After about 7 accidents or so, I decided that I need to put a timer on and get him to go every time the timer goes off. So we spent a lot of time in the bathroom, sitting on the potty until something would come out. I would only set the timer for 10 or 15 minutes each time at first. Tuesday and Wednesday were not much better, I always had to bribe him to just sit on the potty. He did get a new combine from Ben Franklin and some ice cream for his achievements however. Thursday was so much better with only one accident and Friday good with only one accident as well. Well as I am trying to work with Jaden, Bryson got really sick on Tuesday afternoon with a high temperature which continued through Thursday. His temp got up to 103 at one point and was up at night a lot and miserable. He did sleep a lot during the day, to give me a chance to help Jaden. So when we think things are getting better for all of us, Jaden woke up Saturday with a high temp, and very lethargic. He was now miserable, he was so achy that he couldn't walk, he would try and just cry.
Meanwhile, Bryson was getting his one year molars, and was so super fussy. It is not like him to cry and fuss, but he wouldn't even let us put him down. When he woke up from a nap, Jason referred him as "devil child". I knew he was uncomfortable as well.
Because Jaden was sick yesterday he wore a diaper all day since he slept so much, he did sit on the potty a few times but didn't pee in it. Today he is feeling much better, talking a lot more and eating and drinking some. But not doing great on the potty. He just wants a pull up and doesn't want to sit on the potty. He did pee in it once today though. I feel like we are back to square one, and I have to go back to work tomorrow. Good luck to Cindy... bless her heart! :)
It has been wonderful, however, to have Jason around Friday and all weekend, I am sure he doesn't think so, but he has been an awesome help and we LOVE it when daddy is home. Also on a positive note, before Jaden got sick and before the snow melted, Jaden and I went out to build a snowman. We were out for about an hour and he stayed dry the whole time. Here is a picture. This year can only go up from here. Happy 2011!
